Amidst the challenges of the current times, Israeli society remains resilient, extending a helping hand to those affected by the ongoing conflict while reinforcing the very fabric of our community. There is a powerful, shared desire among young Jewish individuals worldwide, especially those who have previously had a significant Israel experience, to play a pivotal role in this critical mission. In response to this collective sense of duty and solidarity, Taglit Birthright Israel has issued a heartfelt call to action, offering young Jewish people worldwide a unique opportunity to actively engage in essential civic programs on the ground in Israel.

Since the program’s inception, over 7500 volunteers from around the world have journeyed to Israel, dedicating 2 to 4 weeks to work in farms and logistics centers across the country. By the end of 2024, our expectation is to welcome 8500 volunteers from various corners of the globe. The program embraces Taglit Birthright Israel and Onward alumni, as well as young Jews new to our initiatives, and those experiencing Israel for the first time. Spanning ages 24 to 40, these individuals have left their daily lives to lend a helping hand during these challenging times, with one remarkable couple who even chose to make this volunteer program their honeymoon.

While the volunteers arrive with the intention of fortifying Israel, they themselves discover a newfound strength through the program. Integral to their experience is an educational program that includes our unique “Mifgash,” connecting them with Israelis who join the volunteer efforts. Recognizing the complexity of the situation, emotional support systems are also in place to help volunteers navigate the challenges they encounter in Israel.

Undoubtedly, this program marks a significant milestone in the enduring relationship between Taglit alumni and Israel. The volunteers not only contribute to the well-being of Israel but also find themselves transformed and strengthened through this unique and impactful journey.

When young Jews fall in love with Israel and its people, our future can be transformed.
